Communication App 3.0 — Jyutping Sounding Keyboard

Overview

Have you ever thought that students with intellectual disabilities (ID) could learn Cantonese pinyin and type Chinese texts to express themselves? We firmly believe that every child can learn and communicate. Hong Chi schools strive to enhance the communication skills of students with ID and low verbal ability. The Communication App 3.0 was developed earlier this year. Besides the voice communication cards in the app to facilitate daily communication of users, the app also comes with a Cantonese Pinyin (Jyutping) sounding keyboard. With this keyboard, even students with weak hand muscles and difficulty holding pens can express their thoughts and emotions through typing after learning to use Jyutping. With the app, the self-learning and communication abilities of students with low verbal ability and autism or non-Chinese speaking students can be enhanced.
