Applying Knowledge Management Strategies to Enhance the Quality of Life for Students with Severe Intellectual Disabilities

Overview

This seminar aims to reflect on how a special school uses Knowledge Management strategies ‘Design Thinking’ and ‘Community of Practice’ to empower carers to improve the quality of life for students with severe intellectual disabilities and medical complexity. It is encouraging to find that the carers change from being helped to helping others by delivering peer counselling via the book ‘Recipes for Healing Blessed Mind & Body’, developing a five senses curriculum for the students and sharing their knowledge in a carer e-Platform and a Complex Medical Case Food Lab.
