A Critical Appraisal of Evaluating 21st Century Technology Education

InnoSTEMer (Seminar)

Overview

Teachers have the responsibility to prepare their students for the 21st century, especially in science and technology subjects where acquiring up-to-date knowledge and skills is always is of foremost importance. People who are innovative and creative usually have specialised skills in an area of knowledge or practice. So, learning-to-learn skills are important, we always learn by learning something. However, success in education is no longer about copying knowledge content, but about extrapolating what we already know and applying it creatively in new situations. This learning process also involves thinking across disciplines, with education in STEM fields increasingly focused on inquiry-based teaching and learning. The question that remains is how can inquiry-based education promote the development of student's abilities? In what ways are project-based learning outcomes assessed?
