‘Three-dimensional Teaching' in Chinese Writing Lessons

21st Century Classroom

Overview

In view of the fact that the student-led teaching strategy in the past has not been truly student-oriented, some teachers of our school have conducted research on classroom teaching strategies and have produced a set of teaching strategies that can maintain classroom participation; promote the depth of learning knowledge; activate students at different levels, with the development of ‘three-dimensional teaching’ mode. Based on this teaching model, this class uses new strategy of ‘Think, Pair, and Share’ to share the teaching results of the school with colleagues in the education sector while teaching students the description of characters.

This open lesson will use this teaching model as a starting point. Using the school-based ‘three-dimensional teaching’ strategy can address the following three points in teaching: (1) the width of students' participation in the classroom; (2) the depth of learning knowledge; and (3) the level of thinking. Students participating in the classroom can truly take into account the learning differences. Regardless of the strength, they have the opportunity to develop their personal thinking ability; and the students can step up the level of the teaching content in the classroom, and have more opportunities to move to a higher level in terms of thinking and learning knowledge. The new method of ‘Think, Pair, Share’, guides students to participate in learning activities with clear learning instructions. The speakers will share an interactive sharing session to show the students' achievements. The speakers will demonstrate questioning skills in an appropriate manner to deal with students' different learning achievements for making summaries of learning outcomes and sorting out a conclusion."
