What Do We Still Need to Fully Digitise Teaching, Learning and Assessment?

Future Learning Theatre

Overview

Most of the primary schools has been undergoing digital transformation. In order to carry out full transformation, what do we need? In this seminar we will share how primary schools can perform “digitization audit” and share our advice, which covers different areas such as learning, teaching, assessing and school management. The result will be shown with tiers and in table form. This transformation can reduce teachers’ repetitive work, making information transparent, and provide big data for AI to analyze. We will also share school experience and performance on areas such as:

1. Exercise transformation: Schools have many worksheets. There are many benefits after digitization.
2. Digital dictation: Not many parents are able to help children to dictate. Teachers can prepare digital dictation content and allow students to listen and dictate on their own. Students can receive digital rewards accordingly. The audio in the dictation can be generated using “Text-to-speech” function from AI services. The speech quality can now be as good as human.
3. Digital marking: Teachers spend lots of time on marking students’ work everyday. Now questions with standard answers are marked automatically by computer. Teachers can focus more on open-end questions and give more comments to students.
4. Digital rewards and digital bulletin board: increase students’ learning motivation and encourage student to achieve more.
5. Digital test and exam: semi-digitization is better for teachers and students.
6. Digital quiz competition and reading scheme: how to make student proactive using these schemes.
7. Digital school management and other digital assessment: these topics will also be covered.

In this sharing, Vice Principal Mr. Wong from S.K.H Lee Shiu Keung Primary school, will share tips and outcome from the transformation process. He will also share how he balance between school development and the workload induced. His school’s partner, Mr. Cheung from Open Knowledge Association will also share the insights of transformation from various schools, and their expectations on future e-teaching and e-learning.
