Overview

The Department of Childcare, Elderly and Community Services (CECS) under Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Sha Tin) has continued to promote high-quality Early STEM Education.

Early STEM Education elicits children’s curiosity about their lives. Children develop the lifelong learning skills and cultivate dispositions such as problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and persistence that are essential for the future technology-driven world. To promote children’s all-round development, the integration of the arts into early STEM curriculum allows children to learn in a more open-ended and less restrictive way which makes them applicable to real life. STEAM is all about sparking learning with hands-on activities and allowing the freedom of creativity.

In this seminar, the importance of Early STEM Education and the integration of arts will be highlighted and followed by the pedagogy for leading Early STEM in the classroom.
