Blended Learning in English Writing Teaching — A Case with e-Portfolios in a Primary School

Overview

In this seminar, a case study of using the Blended Learning approach in English writing teaching will be discussed. It will be about the use of e-Portfolios in teaching English writing at the primary school level. The evidence, findings and analysis will be provided in hopes of inspiring more front-line teachers to pick up the Blended Learning approach at primary school level.

This seminar will cover different e-learning elements in the conventional English writing lessons and the use of Task-based Learning (TBL). The process of using different e-learning platforms and integrating them into one teaching package will be discussed. The results will be discussed in terms of the changes in students' perceptions towards English writing and their perspectives. The case study has been conducted in school and data has been collected. After analysis, the results and implications towards better adaptation of Blended Learning in primary schools will be discussed.

The speaker hopes the findings from this case study will benefit other school management level staff and front-line teachers who are considering the Blended Learning approach in primary schools. The work that has been done in the presenter’s serving will likely provide insights and the challenges that a school may face in developing a Blended Learning curriculum.
