The Metaverse in Education: A Primary Project Learning on Sustainable Development Ecology

Overview
While the developmental direction of the education Metaverse is still under discussion, the team believes creating a virtual platform where students can engage in learning meaningfully in an immersive atmosphere would be an indispensable element of an education Metaverse. Students can also explore, create, socialise and acquire various experiences on the platform. A properly managed platform should also be able to nurture students' information literacy in the Metaverse. Therefore, our school is seeking to establish an education Metaverse with various partners and create a regulated Metaverse with Microsoft Minecraft Education. Using the theme of sustainable development ecology, the team is aiming to create a virtual environment with learnability and malleability. The core of our Metaverse will be enriched with learning material under the theme of sustainable ecological development. Supplemented with face-to-face lessons, teachers will guide students to conduct themed project studies as well as understanding the challenges and difficulties faced by endangered creatures and offering potential solutions. Students will present their research results in the Metaverse with fellow students.
This open lesson will share sustainability lessons with the academic community by partnering with companies to create the Metaverse with Minecraft Education. The speakers will explain how to combine traditional face-to-face teaching, field trips, project learning, gamification learning and immersive virtual environment to develop a set of teaching strategies that are diverse and compatible with the 21st century, and provide an example of a development orientation for the educational Metaverse.
The speakers combine lectures and workshops, so that attendees can get clear explanations and experience opportunities in the limited sharing time. Attendees will have access to the Metaverse to experience knowledge and attitudes about animal conservation in sustainability courses.
