Overview
The speakers aim to share their philosophy and design of ‘Reading across the Curriculum’ (RaC) from a curriculum development perspective. Teaching strategies and the integration of RaC in Chinese Curriculum will be presented through examples of RaC modules in different levels.
The experience of implementing the Whole-school Approach at the speakers’ serving school will be shared. The school has created a joyful reading environment and encouraged collaboration between teachers, students and parents, to elevate students’ motivation in reading.
The strategies of expanding the breadth and depth of reading, and cultivating a positive reading atmosphere to develop students into autonomous and self-regulated readers, will also be discussed.
