A New Perspective of PSHE: School-based Interdisciplinary Investor and Financial Education Scheme

K12 Theatre

Overview

Breaking the traditional norm that financial education could only be conducted in Economics and Business, Accounting and Financial Studies (BAFS) lessons, this school implemented the school-based Interdisciplinary Investor and Financial Education Scheme, which the Humanities subject panel was appointed to lead the scheme. Based on their learning in Life and Society and History subjects, students are familiarised with the basic concepts of financial management and investment. They also learnt the current economic conditions in Hong Kong, the city’s economic history as well as some knowledge related to economy and finance in the Basic Law. The programme also helps foster the values education in our school. Through an interdisciplinary approach, extra-curricular activities are organised to allow students to collaborate and present their fruits of learning. The Humanities subject panel gathered students from Visual Arts, ICT and Economics subjects to take part in the ‘Money Management Story Creation Competition’. Students of Chinese Language, Chinese History, Putonghua and History also created a radio programme, in which they shared about the wisdom of ‘financial management and investment’ in Chinese history.
