Machine Learning — the Application of Artificial Intelligence

Overview

Machine learning is an application of Artificial Intelligence. It is the process of using mathematical models of data to help a computer learn without direct instruction.

In this seminar, participants get to train a machine learning model to recognise what the symbols look like by taking pictures of them with a computer webcam. Using Scratch with machine learning, participants will learn to make a 'Snap' game where the computer recognises the symbols when it chooses a matching card. This activity can be introduced to the secondary or even primary school-based curriculum to start Artificial Intelligence learning.
