Developing AI Education in Primary School Using Software and Hardware

Innovation Classroom

Overview

Since its first introduction in 2015, the school has included software and hardware in its STEM curriculum. With the hardware, students acquire knowledge in electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, NOT gates, AND gates, OR gates and NAND gates. Project based assessment includes merry go around, crawling robot, rain gauge, LED photo frame, alarm and four wheels car. With the software, they learn how to use Scratch, PictoBlox, App Inventor and MindPlus.

In order to introduce our school-based AI curriculum, the speaker would like to use PowerPoint, Scratch, PictoBlox, MindPlus and App Inventor, and electronic components to let participants make a small product.

The school has incorporated software, hardware, theory and practice for students to have a chance to learn Artificial Intelligence in class. All students are taught with electronic components for students to make projects. It is believed that all students will acquire logical thinking in writing programmes to handle big data and hardware.
